Keying-in, scanning and OCR (for re-prints,archiving,web publishing)
We can convert your hard-copy books/documents into digital, editable text using a combination of OCR and keying-in techniques. Using state-of-the-art hardware and software, your hard-copy manuscripts are converted into a format of your choice (MS Word, TXT , RTF, etc.), ready for rapid, organized and simple storage and retrieval. If required, we can then typeset these in QuarkXPress, InDesign etc.
Alternatively, if you do just want to re-print/archive without any modifications, we can scan at high resolution and provide the output in a format ready-to-publish. We even take care of `crooked' pages, to ensure that the new manuscript is absolutely `straight'. Further, we can even `clean-up' the pages, removing any dust specks present on the pages.
Optical Character Recognition ( OCR ) technology is a rapid method of data entry. However, depending upon the quality of paper, font size, font type etc., it may not be very accurate. We, therefore, employ a dual input approach for converting printed manuscripts to digital format. Details of the process are as follows:
- Scan the original manuscript
- Retrieve the text matter of scanned material using OCR software
- Key-in the text separately
- Compare the above two inputs and remove the discrepancies
- Touch-up the images, if present
- Arrange the text and images in the template
- Format the pages
Conversion using the above process is more accurate and more efficient than plain keystroke data input. This technique creates a high accuracy output, and is generally used for re-prints, archives of journals, back issues etc.
